Artist Statement: Trans is a prefix that indicates change. Across, beyond, through. TRANS:SAVAGE is an installation that deals with the trauma of a forced transition between a natural state of existence and a socially constructed identity. For those whose personal identities fall outside of the recognized norm this process is particularly damaging. Some escape or adjust, but others crumble under the pressure of being forced to perform a part in a system that they are not congruent with . This is beyond savage.
